Turkish Sports Minister Celebrates National Volleyball Team’s Victory Over Brazil

Ankara: Turkish Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak on Sunday extended his congratulations to Turkey's women's national volleyball team following their victory over Brazil in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League final, where they emerged champions with a 3-1 win.

According to Anadolu Agency, Minister Bak praised the team for their remarkable achievement, noting their consistent performance throughout the tournament. He highlighted their journey through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final, emphasizing the pride they have brought to the nation. Bak shared his personal experience of overcoming travel challenges to witness the match firsthand, describing the adverse weather conditions that nearly prevented their plane from landing.

Minister Bak also mentioned that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan followed the match closely and personally congratulated each athlete after their victory. He acknowledged the significant investments made in sports, which have contributed to such achievements and the full support from enthusiastic fans during matches held in Ankara. Looking ahead to the European Championship, Bak expressed confidence in the team's potential for continued success.

The minister also congratulated Melissa Vargas, who was named the tournament's most valuable player, highlighting the honor of having the Turkish national anthem played internationally.
