Turkish State Aid Agency Implements Cooperation Projects Across Bangladesh in 2024

Dhaka: Trkiye's state aid agency conducted various development and cooperation projects in 2024, said the agency's coordinator of project in Dhaka.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) made significant contributions in the field of education in Bangladesh. They supported projects ranging from technical training and children's learning processes to school renovations and tourism education, including addressing students' transportation issues and offering driving courses, as noted by Mert Baris.

In the city of Feni, approximately 3.5 hours by road from Dhaka, the Atatrk Model High School, named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and established in 1939, was renovated with TIKA's backing. The school now serves around 1,000 students with modern educational facilities.

TIKA also made contributions to the healthcare sector in Bangladesh through various initiatives. In Dhaka, TIKA provided medical equipment support to the physiotherapy department of Shishu Hospital, which caters to approximately 1,500 children daily. By replacing outdated devices with modern equipment, TIKA enhanced the quality of healthcare services available to children.

Additionally, TIKA plans to open two class B health centers in Shariatpur and Rangamati in 2024. In response to severe floods caused by heavy rainfall, TIKA dispatched a mobile clinic vehicle to the Feni and Noakhali regions to aid in disaster response efforts.

The agency also undertook projects to support agricultural development and promote climate-friendly practices in Bangladesh. As part of the Building Climate-Resilient Communities Through Skill Development project in the Koyra district of the Khulna region, a smart farming techniques training program was organized for farmers in collaboration with the Amal Foundation.
