Turkish Stock Exchange Ends Tuesday in Red

Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 12,921.56 points, down 1.45% from the previous close. After starting the day at 13,108.45, the BIST 100 index fell 190.75 points from its close on Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the low point for the index during the day was 12,876.31, while the daily high was 13,179.92. A total of 83 indexes lost value, while 14 closed in the black. The transaction volume hit 145.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.26 billion), while the overall value of the index was 12.56 trillion liras ($282.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 44.6120 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 51.6765, and the GBP/TRY traded at 59.1530. The price of gold was $4,647.15 per ounce, while Brent crude futures were $111.02.
