Turkish Stock Exchange Experiences Slight Decline at Wednesday’s Close

Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index concluded Wednesday at 14,012.01 points, marking a 0.12% decrease from the previous day. After opening at 14,009.02 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell by 17.53 points compared to Monday's close, as the stock market was closed on Tuesday in observance of Atatrk, Youth, and Sports Day on May 19, a national holiday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the index reached its lowest point at 13,856.12 and peaked at 14,089.76 throughout the day. The market capitalization of the BIST 100 stood at approximately 13.52 trillion Turkish liras ($297.5 billion), with a trading volume of 165.5 billion liras ($3.63 billion). Out of the stocks in the index, 45 saw an increase while 51 experienced a decline compared to the previous close.

As for commodities and currency, the price of gold was reported at $4,535.20 per ounce, and Brent crude futures were trading at $105.65 per barrel as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT). The exchange rates were noted with the US dollar/Turkish lira at 45.5965, the euro/Turkish lira at 53.0820, and the British pound trading for 61.3425 liras.
