ANKARA: Turkey's benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, opened Friday at 10,041.43 points, marking a rise of 0.59%, or 58.45 points, from the previous close. On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1.55% to close at 9,982.98 points, with a daily transaction volume of 84 billion Turkish liras ($2.50 billion). As of 9:58 a.m. (0658 GMT), the exchange rate for the US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) stood at 33.7010, the euro/Turkish lira (EUR/TRY) rate was 37.0082, and the British pound/Turkish lira (GBP/TRY) rate was 43.3905.
