ISTANBUL: The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 10,682.15 points, up sharply by 2.26% from the previous close.? The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,494.72 points, earning 235.91 points from Tuesday's close.? The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,480.38, while its daily high was 10,688.53. Some 67 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 32 declined. The total transaction volume reached 96 billion Turkish liras ($2.94 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.06 trillion liras ($277.8 billion). The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.5490 as of 19.00 p.m. local time (1600GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.1460, and the GBP/TRY traded at 41.5440.
