Ankara: Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek on Monday held a phone call with Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, to discuss economic relations between the two nations. Simsek extended his congratulations to Bessent on his recent appointment under the Trump administration.
According to Anadolu Agency, during their conversation, Simsek and Bessent expressed mutual interest in strengthening economic ties between Turkey and the United States. Bessent, who assumed office in late January, engaged in a discussion that lasted approximately thirty minutes, focusing on ways to deepen economic cooperation.
The two officials agreed to meet in person at the earliest opportunity, with expectations set for a face-to-face meeting during the upcoming annual IMF-World Bank meetings in Washington, DC, next month. This potential meeting aims to further solidify the economic partnership between the two countries.
