Ankara: Trkiye's Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz on Thursday received US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack at the Presidential Complex.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yilmaz shared on Turkish social media platform NSosyal that the discussions centered on enhancing the relations between Trkiye and the US, focusing on expanding cooperation in specific areas and exchanging views on recent regional developments.

The statement highlighted that both parties reviewed economic and trade relations, as well as topics concerning the defense industry. This included the impact of US sanctions on Trkiye under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), which have affected the sales of US fighter jets to Trkiye. Trkiye has expressed that such sanctions do not reflect the nature of the alliance between the two countries.

Yilmaz also mentioned that the meeting involved an exchange of perspectives on the latest developments in Iran and Syria, in addition to discussing regional and global issues within the framework of the Gaza peace plan.
