Lisbon: Benfica's Turkish winger Kerem Akturkoglu was named Player of the Month of the Portuguese Primeira Liga in September/October, the football club announced Thursday. The accolade highlights Akturkoglu's impressive performance during the early part of the season, showcasing his impact on the field for his team. According to Anadolu Agency, Akturkoglu, wearing the number 17 jersey for the Eagles, received 29.06% of the votes from the league's head coaches. This recognition underscores the winger's significant contributions in terms of scoring and playmaking for Benfica. During the five league games in September and October, the 26-year-old scored five goals and provided two assists, all in just 273 minutes of play. His performances were crucial in Benfica's strong showings during the period, cementing his status as a key player. In addition to being named Player of the Month, Akturkoglu was also recognized as the Forward of the Month for the same period. His journey to Benfica began in September when h e transferred from the Turkish team Galatasaray, further enhancing the Portuguese club's attacking options.
