Ashgabat: A convoy carrying humanitarian aid departed Turkmenistan for neighboring Afghanistan, which recently experienced a devastating earthquake, the Turkmen International Information Center reported. Four trucks set out toward the border city of Kerki, where the cargo will be delivered to the Afghan people affected by the disaster.

According to Anadolu Agency, the aid includes essential goods such as medicines, medical supplies, textiles, and food products. This humanitarian initiative was organized under the directives of the Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslahaty) of Turkmenistan and facilitated by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.

The 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan on November 2, resulting in the death of 27 people and injuring nearly 1,000, as reported by national health officials. The quake caused significant destruction across the provinces of Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Sar-e-Pul, and Kunduz, destroying more than 1,000 homes and leaving hundreds displaced.

Afghanistan has faced multiple earthquakes in past years, impacting thousands of families and necessitating continual humanitarian support.
