Haikou: Operations at Haikou's three primary ports were suspended on Monday as Typhoon Fengshen intensified into a severe tropical storm.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ports affected include Xinhai Port, Xiuying Port, and the railway south port. Authorities noted that the typhoon, located about 400 kilometers from Yongxing Dao in the South China Sea, is expected to gain strength and potentially reach full typhoon intensity as it moves east-northeast.

Local meteorological services predict the storm will continue on its current path, with a potential shift toward Vietnam's central coastline. In response, Haikou's transportation and port departments have indicated that operations at the ports are anticipated to resume by Thursday, contingent on weather developments. As a precaution, some train services to and from Hainan Island have also been canceled, and emergency response measures have been heightened.

In the neighboring Guangdong Province, officials activated a typhoon emergency response as Typhoon Fengshen entered the South China Sea. All fishing vessels have been ordered to return to port, and personnel have been evacuated from offshore installations, including fish farms and marine ranches. Maritime activities such as fishing and tourism have been temporarily halted.

This event follows the typhoon's impact on the Philippines, where Tropical Storm Fengshen resulted in at least eight fatalities and the evacuation of more than 22,000 individuals from areas susceptible to floods and landslides.
