Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has issued a statement calling for Iran to be held "fully liable" for damages and reparations following a series of missile and drone attacks on its territory. The UAE Foreign Ministry highlighted that a total of 2,819 ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones, had been launched by Iran toward UAE territory over the past 40 days.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE is attentively monitoring the current two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The UAE is seeking further clarification on the terms of this agreement to ensure Iran's complete adherence to halting hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz unconditionally. The ministry stressed that the Iranian attacks resulted in both casualties and property damage, necessitating a decisive response.

The statement from the ministry underscored the importance of a thorough approach to address the range of threats posed by Iran. This approach should tackle Iran's nuclear capabilities, ballistic missiles, drones, military capacities, and its affiliated proxies and terrorist groups. Additionally, it should eliminate threats to navigation freedom, economic warfare, and piracy in the Strait of Hormuz.

The ministry expressed optimism for the attainment of sustainable peace across the region. The ceasefire between Iran and the US, announced on Tuesday, is intended to lead to a final agreement to conclude the conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on February 28. This conflict has resulted in numerous casualties.

The truce announcement came just before the deadline set by US President Donald Trump. He had extended this deadline multiple times for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and agree to terms or face severe consequences.
