UAE Detects Ballistic Missiles Launched from Iran

Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Defense Ministry has announced that the nation's air-defense systems detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran. The ministry reported that assessments indicated the missiles were targeting maritime navigation and ultimately fell into the sea.

According to Anadolu Agency, tensions in the Middle East have escalated following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. This has led to retaliatory actions from Tehran, including missile strikes in regional countries like the UAE, which host US assets.

Earlier, the UAE Defense Ministry stated that the country remains fully prepared to respond to any threats and is committed to countering attempts to undermine its security. The situation highlights the ongoing volatility in the region, exacerbated by recent military actions and diplomatic challenges.

In June, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding under the mediation of Pakistan, aimed at ending hostilities and establishing a lasting peace agreement. However, negotiations have stalled due to disputes over the terms of the memorandum and issues related to navigation through the Hormuz Strait, a critical route for global energy exports.
