Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced that it successfully thwarted cyberattacks aimed at the aviation, energy, and education sectors within the country. According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE Cybersecurity Council, through a statement released by the official news agency WAM, revealed that national systems had detected and neutralized sophisticated and organized cyber threats targeting these crucial sectors.

The council highlighted that the intrusion attempts were effectively contained, preventing the attackers from achieving their intended objectives or disrupting essential systems and services. The cyberattacks employed various methods, including attempts to breach systems and digital infrastructure, targeting accounts and operational data, and executing targeted phishing campaigns. The council further explained that these attacks also involved attempts to exploit users as entry points into the targeted environments.

Cybersecurity teams in the UAE were able to identify and counter these malicious activities, track the paths and indicators of compromise, and implement technical measures to neutralize the threats and prevent their proliferation. However, the council did not disclose the identities or origins of the perpetrators, nor did it specify the timing or duration of these attacks.

The announcement comes as the UAE reports a significant increase in cyber threats and attacks against its vital sectors since the beginning of 2026. In July, the country also reported foiling cyberattacks targeting the financial sector through methods such as phishing, vulnerability exploitation, and AI-supported malware. Earlier in February, the UAE Cybersecurity Council announced the prevention of cyberattacks using ransomware aimed at critical sectors, which encrypts data and demands payment for decryption.
