Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran. The UAE Ministry of Defense issued a statement detailing that air defenses were activated in response to these threats targeting the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Ministry of Defense further explained that sounds heard in several areas were attributed to the interception of incoming ballistic missiles and drones by the air defense systems. However, no immediate details regarding potential damage or casualties have been released.

This incident unfolded despite Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's statement that Iran would refrain from attacking neighboring states unless provoked by attacks from their territories. Iran initiated missile and drone strikes on February 28, targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. Some of these attacks have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential areas.

Tehran claims these actions are retaliatory measures in response to a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of individuals, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials.
