Taipei: The UK and Taiwan signed three agreements to bolster their bilateral ties and cooperation in areas such as investment, digital trade, and energy. The signing ceremony took place in Taipei, as reported by Focus Taiwan.

According to Anadolu Agency, the agreements, named "Three Pillar Arrangements of the UK-Taiwan Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP)," were signed by Taiwan's UK representative Vincent Yao and his British counterpart Ruth Bradley-Jones. The event was attended by UK Trade Minister Douglas Alexander and Taiwan's top trade negotiator Yang Jen-ni at the Office of Trade Negotiations.

The agreements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation in investment, digital trade, and energy/net-zero sectors. In his remarks, UK Trade Minister Douglas Alexander highlighted Taiwan as a significant market for UK companies in clean energy and noted the growing interest in strategic sectors such as technology and advanced manufacturing. The digital trade pilot project was also mentioned for its value to businesses.

Alexander is currently visiting Taiwan for ongoing trade talks. Official data from the UK indicates that bilateral trade between Taipei and London amounted to £9.3 billion ($12.7 billion) in 2024.
