Ankara: Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson has been appointed as the new ambassador to the Republic of Trkiye, succeeding Jill Morris, according to an official announcement by the UK government. Anderson is set to assume her new role in August 2026, marking a significant progression in her diplomatic career.
According to Anadolu Agency, prior to her ambassadorial appointment, Anderson served as the director of Consular and Crisis at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from 2020 to 2024. Her extensive experience in Trkiye is highlighted by her previous role as deputy head of mission at the British Embassy in Ankara from 2017 to 2020.
Anderson's diplomatic career spans several significant roles, including her tenure as the UK high commissioner to Botswana and deputy head of mission in Jakarta, Indonesia. Additionally, she has led efforts as the head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Counter-Terrorism Department, underscoring her extensive experience in international relations and security.
