London: The UK, Egypt, and Palestine announced on Thursday their collaborative efforts to attract private sector investment aimed at the extensive reconstruction needs of Gaza, emphasizing that the project should be led by Palestinians.

According to Anadolu Agency, the governments of the UK, Egypt, and Palestine released a joint communiqu© following a series of discussions at Wilton Park. The communiqu© highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating, "The scale of destruction makes clear the urgent need for practical solutions." The discussions aimed to unite international investors and partner governments to address the rebuilding of Gaza.

The three-day conference saw participation from international investors, Palestinian private sector representatives, and various international and Arab governments. The focus was on exploring the mobilization of private financial resources for the recovery efforts in Gaza. The statement from the talks noted that reconstructing Gaza would require tens of billions of dollars and stressed the importance of involving the private sector for both financing and expertise.

The communiqu© highlighted the significant progress made in identifying sustainable private finance avenues while ensuring that Palestinians lead the recovery and reconstruction efforts. It also aimed to expand on existing frameworks such as the "Arab Islamic Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development Plan for Gaza" and the "Two-State Solution Conference Outcome Document."

Looking forward, the co-hosts expressed their commitment to advancing the progress achieved at the talks. They aim to support the upcoming Cairo International Conference on Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development of Gaza in November, which seeks to further international support for Gaza's reconstruction. This initiative is part of broader efforts to establish a political horizon for the state of Palestine and the realization of a two-state solution.
