London:British police arrested 48 individuals during a demonstration in London on Saturday, which was held in support of Palestine Action, a group recognized as a terrorist organization in the UK.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, more than 100 protesters assembled outside the US Embassy in London's Nine Elms area. The Metropolitan Police stated that the majority of arrests were made for 'expressing support for a proscribed organization.'
Additionally, another demonstration took place outside the US consulate near Holyrood in Edinburgh. The events were organized by Defend Our Juries, with participants reportedly holding signs that read, 'I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.'
Authorities had cautioned that attendees could be arrested for expressing support for Palestine Action, including displaying related placards. The group was proscribed under the Terrorism Act in June 2025, making such expressions an offense.
The protests occurred ahead of a Supreme Court appeal against the group's proscription, scheduled for November 4. Previously, the High Court had deemed the ban 'disproportionate,' but the Court of Appeal later ruled in June that the proscription was lawful.
A Home Office spokesperson noted that the Court of Appeal's decision was based on findings that Palestine Action engaged in terrorist acts, celebrated those involved, and promoted violence, although the ban does not impede lawful protests supporting the Palestinian cause.
