London: The UK has once again emphasized its call for a "Syrian-led political solution" amid ongoing tensions in Syria. The statement comes in light of recent developments that have seen increased violence and displacement in the region. According to Anadolu Agency, a spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office highlighted the urgency of protecting civilian lives and infrastructure. The spokesperson urged all parties involved in the conflict to prevent further suffering and ensure the unhindered delivery of essential humanitarian aid. The statement criticized the Bashar al-Assad regime for creating conditions that have led to the current escalation, attributing this to the regime's reluctance to engage in a political process and its dependency on Russia and Iran. The UK reiterated its appeal for all parties, including the Syrian regime, to engage in negotiations as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2254. The call comes after opposition armed groups launched an attack against r egime forces in Aleppo on November 27. Subsequently, Syrian regime forces, aligned with the PKK/YPG, ceded certain areas to the latter, which then fortified these regions with reinforcements from eastern Syria. In response, the Syrian National Army (SNA) initiated Operation Dawn of Freedom to thwart the PKK/YPG's plans to establish a corridor between Tel Rifaat and Manbij. This operation resulted in the liberation of the Tel Rifaat district center from terrorist control. The Syrian conflict began in 2011 when the Assad regime forcefully suppressed pro-democracy protests, spiraling into a prolonged and devastating civil war.
