London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Friday that the UK will evacuate children who need urgent medical aid in Gaza. "The UK will pull every lever we have to get food and lifesaving support to Palestinians, and we will evacuate children who need urgent medical assistance," Starmer wrote on X, reaffirming that they will bring them to the UK for specialist medical treatment.

According to Anadolu Agency, Starmer described the ongoing situation in Gaza as "a humanitarian catastrophe" and emphasized the urgent need for intervention. He expressed deep concern over the lack of aid reaching children and babies, calling it "completely unjustifiable." He assured that the UK will collaborate with Jordanian authorities to facilitate the delivery of aid and explore all avenues to assist those in need.

Starmer highlighted that Israel's decision to allow countries to airdrop aid into Gaza came "too late," but reiterated the UK's commitment to doing everything possible to provide assistance. He also emphasized the importance of working with allies to develop a pathway to peace in the region, focusing on practical solutions to alleviate suffering and achieve a ceasefire.

He further elaborated on the UK's stance towards the recognition of a Palestinian state, stating that it should form part of a broader plan for a two-state solution and long-term security.
