London: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to host a virtual meeting involving global leaders to discuss peacekeeping strategies in Ukraine. The meeting, scheduled for Saturday, aims to encourage participating nations to make concrete commitments towards supporting Ukraine amidst ongoing tensions. Around 25 leaders are expected to join the discussion, forming a "coalition of the willing" to address the situation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting will focus on urging allies to enhance military support for Ukraine, apply economic pressure on Russia, and prepare to back any potential future peace deal. Participants will receive updates on recent defense discussions in Paris and outline their plans for military assistance. Confirmed attendees include several European nations, the EU Commission, NATO, Canada, Ukraine, Australia, and New Zealand.

In other international developments, the European Union is preparing to legalize "return hubs" in third countries as part of its strategy to mitigate irregular migration. This move, however, has faced criticism for potentially leading to human rights violations. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen revealed this return strategy to the European Parliament, emphasizing it as a priority for her current term. The strategy draws inspiration from the UK's past plan to manage asylum seekers by relocating them to Rwanda.
