Kyiv: Ukraine and the US have reached a framework agreement for a minerals deal, according to a report by The Washington Post. The deal grants the US access to Ukrainian mineral resources on improved terms compared to a previous offer that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had declined.
According to Anadolu Agency, the White House has yet to confirm the agreement officially. However, it has previously emphasized the importance of President Zelenskyy signing a deal to share mineral and other natural resource revenues with the US, highlighting its significance amid ongoing peace negotiations.
In other developments, the Syrian National Dialogue Conference has announced its intention to expedite the adoption of a temporary constitutional declaration. This move aims to ensure a stable transition and avoid a constitutional vacuum during Syria's transitional phase. The conference, attended by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, also reaffirmed Syria's territorial integrity and called for Israel's withdrawal from Syrian land.
Meanwhile, Israel conducted airstrikes in Damascus and southern Syria on Tuesday. Targeting locations in the Al-Kiswah area south of Damascus and Izraa in Daraa province, Israeli warplanes executed at least four airstrikes. A weapons depot in Al-Kiswah was reportedly hit, causing a fire. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strikes, stating that any attempts by Syrian regime forces and terrorist organizations to establish themselves in southern Syria's security zone would be countered with force.
