Ankara: The Kremlin said Sunday that the peace process around the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has reached a 'dramatic' stage amid what it called escalating actions 'from all sides.' Speaking to Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin in comments published on Telegram, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that the possible delivery of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine by the US is a cause of 'extreme concern' for Moscow.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov emphasized that the Tomahawk missile, which can be equipped with either non-nuclear or nuclear warheads, poses a significant threat due to its long-range capabilities. However, he noted that despite its power, the weapon is unlikely to alter the situation on the battlefield. Peskov described the current phase of the conflict as 'very dramatic,' indicating that tensions are rising from all directions.

Peskov reiterated Russia's stance on seeking a peaceful resolution, mentioning that US President Donald Trump has also advocated for negotiations. He suggested that Trump still possesses the political will to pursue a diplomatic solution. Peskov criticized European countries and Ukraine for their lack of willingness to engage in peace talks.

The Kremlin spokesman further highlighted the potential risks associated with long-range missile launches, particularly the uncertainty regarding the payload of such missiles. He urged military experts in other countries to consider the implications of a missile that could potentially be nuclear-capable.

US President Trump announced that he was on the verge of deciding whether to approve the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but he expressed a need to understand the intended use and destination of the missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously requested the missiles during a meeting with Trump at the UN General Assembly. US Vice President JD Vance later confirmed that the request was under consideration, with Trump set to make the final decision.
