Kyiv: Ukraine received a tranche of £3.3 billion ($3.78 billion) under a loan package from the EU, the country's prime minister announced. 'Ukraine has received another £3.3 billion tranche from the EU under the Ukraine Support Loan,' Serhii Koretskyi stated on US social media company X. He mentioned that these funds are earmarked for Ukraine's top defense priorities, including the procurement of missiles and drones, expressing gratitude to the European Commission and all EU member states for their support in strengthening Ukraine's military.

According to Anadolu Agency, an EU delegation statement on the funds' disbursement highlighted that this latest tranche is the fourth payment made to Kyiv under the Ukraine Support Loan's defense window, with nearly £15 billion having been provided to the war-torn country this year. 'Europe will continue to deliver the support Ukraine needs to defend its people and its territory,' European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was quoted as saying.

The Ukraine Support Loan, a £90 billion limited recourse loan for 2026-2027, was agreed upon by the European Council last December. It allocates £30 billion for budgetary assistance and £60 billion for defense procurement support, demonstrating Europe's ongoing commitment to aiding Ukraine amid its ongoing challenges.
