Ankara: Ukraine announced that at least one person was killed and 38 others were injured following a Russian airstrike on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. The attack resulted in the death of a 55-year-old woman and caused injuries to several residents, including seven children.

According to Anadolu Agency, Governor Ivan Fedorov conveyed via Telegram that the number of victims is rising, with many Zaporizhzhia residents seeking medical attention. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported damage to several nine-story buildings and an educational institution. Emergency workers successfully extinguished a fire and conducted search and rescue operations, which have now been completed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared on X that guided bombs were used in the Zaporizhzhia strike and mentioned additional airstrikes on Kharkiv, Odesa, and Sumy. He characterized these attacks as deliberate acts of terror by Russia, suggesting they could cease with a command from Russian authorities. Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine's proposal to extend the ceasefire following Easter and its offer to halt strikes on civilian infrastructure, emphasizing Ukraine's willingness to engage in dialogue.

Russian officials have yet to comment on the airstrike. Zaporizhzhia, located 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the front line with Moscow, has been a frequent target of airstrikes throughout the ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year.
