Ankara: Ukraine announced on Thursday that a Russian missile attack on the city of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in at least four deaths and injuries to over 30 people during the night on Wednesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhiy Lysak initially reported three fatalities and 31 injuries, including a child, from the attack. He confirmed that most of the wounded required hospitalization, with 14 individuals listed in serious condition. Later, Lysak updated the death toll to four after a 43-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city's military administration, indicated on Telegram that the missile targeted a hotel located in a residential area. He confirmed that all emergency and municipal services were dispatched to the scene. Rescue operations are still underway, and the attack also caused damage to 14 apartment buildings, two schools, two kindergartens, a cultural institution, a post office, and various business facilities.
Vilkul added that six Russian drones were downed in the region overnight and emphasized the persistent threat of missile and drone attacks, urging residents to adhere to air alert protocols.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the incident, noting that volunteers from a humanitarian organization staying at the hotel managed to evacuate their rooms in time to survive the attack. He stressed the importance of continuous pressure on Russia to cease its aggression and acts of terror.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Ukraine overnight, and claimed that 68 out of 112 Russian drones were intercepted by the country's air defenses.
