Kyiv: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans for an online meeting with the United States on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing peace process with Russia. The meeting aims to clarify positions on the peace negotiations and set a date for the next trilateral meeting with Russia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy made the announcement during a press conference at the Bucha Summit 2026. He highlighted the meeting's purpose of understanding each party's stance and scheduling future discussions with Russia. The talks will also include participation from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, among others.

Zelenskyy expressed concerns over Russia's intentions, stating that Russia has communicated to the US a plan to capture Ukraine's eastern Donbas region within two months. He emphasized that Ukraine has a limited timeframe to respond, suggesting that failure to act could lead to further escalation and additional conditions imposed by Russia.

Territorial issues remain at the forefront of the negotiation process, Zelenskyy stressed. He also accused Russia of trying to exert pressure on the US ahead of the midterm elections. Despite these challenges, he remains hopeful that Washington can influence Moscow and restore logic to the negotiation process.

The president called on the US to take decisive steps in both domestic and foreign policy to ensure that negotiations remain grounded in reason rather than emotion. Earlier this year, Russia and Ukraine engaged in several rounds of talks mediated by the US, aiming to resolve the conflict. However, these efforts were disrupted following a US-Israeli attack on Iran last month.
