Ukraine Warns of New Blackout Risk at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant After Russian Strike

Kyiv: Ukraine’s Energy Ministry claimed Wednesday that a Russian attack once again endangered the power supply to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), leaving it reliant on a single external power line.

According to Anadolu Agency, the latest assault has heightened concerns over the stability of power to the ZNPP, which is one of the largest nuclear power plants in Europe. The facility is now vulnerable due to its dependence on just one external power source, raising fears about potential safety and operational issues.

The Ministry emphasized the critical situation at the plant, urging immediate measures to restore and secure multiple power lines to ensure the plant’s safety and functionality. The ongoing conflict poses significant risks to the infrastructure supporting the ZNPP, with potential implications for regional energy security.

The Zaporizhzhia plant has been a focal point of energy and security discussions amid the ongoing tensions, highlighting the broader impact of conflict on critical infrastructure. The situation underscores the urgency for diplomatic efforts to protect such essential facilities from the repercussions of military actions.
