Kazan: At least one person was killed and 13 others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, the region's head stated in a recent announcement. Rustam Minnikhanov reported that debris from an intercepted drone fell on a checkpoint building belonging to an automobile plant in the Yelabuzhsky district.
According to Anadolu Agency, the district's administrative center, the town of Yelabuga, is located about 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Minnikhanov mentioned that a worker died as a result of the incident, and among the injured, one person is in serious condition. He assured that all the injured received prompt medical care.
Minnikhanov further noted that a fire broke out at the scene but was quickly extinguished by relevant services. He emphasized that despite the attack, all enterprises and life support facilities in the republic are functioning normally and that emergency services remain on constant alert.
Russia's Investigative Committee announced on Telegram that a criminal investigation has been launched concerning the incident. Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Minnikhanov's statement.
