Cairo: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday emphasized the necessity of establishing a clear political framework for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. His comments were made during a speech at an emergency Arab Summit held in the Egyptian capital, which convened to discuss the rebuilding of the enclave.
According to Anadolu Agency, Guterres highlighted the importance of international legal principles in guiding Gaza's recovery, reconstruction, and stability. He affirmed that Gaza should remain an integral part of any future Palestinian state and stressed that a sustainable future for the region depends on security, stability, and the preservation of its people's inalienable rights.
Guterres called for immediate de-escalation in the region and insisted that access to humanitarian aid in Gaza is a fundamental right, not subject to negotiation. He commended the emergency summit as a vital step in the international community's efforts to end the conflict, reduce human suffering, and establish a lasting peace.
