New york: The UN Security Council is set to convene an emergency meeting on Monday to address the escalating situation in Lebanon, as reported by diplomatic sources to Anadolu. This urgent assembly comes in response to a request by France, which has expressed deep concern over the continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon, labeling them as "extremely concerning."

According to Anadolu Agency, Russia has shown strong support for France's call for this meeting. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot emphasized the need for immediate international intervention, highlighting that Israeli strikes have persisted despite a ceasefire initiated on April 17. This ceasefire was extended for an additional 45 days following indirect negotiations mediated by the United States.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reports that since March 2, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of over 3,370 individuals, with more than 10,000 others wounded. This alarming human toll underscores the urgency of the situation and the need for international dialogue and action.

In addition to the meeting on Lebanon, the UN Security Council will also address a separate incident involving a drone attack against Romania, scheduled for Monday. This session was requested by Romania following an incident where a Russian drone allegedly struck a 10-story apartment building, causing an explosion and fire that injured two people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged Romania to investigate the drone incident, noting that previous drone incursions into Finland, Poland, and the Baltic states initially led to accusations against Russia, which were later re-evaluated upon further investigation.
