Khan younis: A Palestinian child lost their life in the Gaza Strip following the detonation of unexploded ordnance left by the Israeli army, according to media reports on Saturday. The tragic incident underscores the ongoing dangers in the region despite a ceasefire.

According to Anadolu Agency, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the explosion took place in the southern city of Khan Younis. Unexploded munitions from previous Israeli military operations continue to be a significant threat to the local population.

Data from the Palestinian government indicates that approximately 20,000 unexploded shells and rockets remain scattered across Gaza. The process of clearing these hazardous remnants could extend over two to three decades. Authorities have expressed concerns that the necessary equipment for demining operations has not been allowed entry into the region.
