Constantia Alexandrou, Professor at the Department of Physics at the University of Cyprus, was elected as fellow of the American Physical Society 2024 (APS Fellows), UCY announced Tuesday. The American Physical Society recognizes scholars who have made outstanding contributions to physics research, made important applications of physics and contributions to physics education, or have significant contributions to the work of the Society, a UCY press release says. Each year, no more than 0.5%-1% of the Association's membership are elected as fellows, the announcement reads. Professor Alexandrou was made a fellow in the field of Nuclear Physics for her pioneering contributions to the calculation of nucleon structures using Quantum Chromodynamics on the Lattice.
