US Ambassador Commends Embassy Staff in Ankara for Visa Processing for Iranian Football Team

Ankara: US Ambassador to Trkiye Tom Barrack has expressed his appreciation for the staff at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara for their efforts in processing visas for Iran's national football team. The ambassador's commendation came as the team prepares to participate in the FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ambassador Barrack took to the US-based social media platform X, where he praised the embassy team for their outstanding work. He highlighted the importance of sports in fostering unity and transcending borders, expressing eagerness to welcome players and fans worldwide to the United States.

Reports have indicated that Iranian players received their entry permits into the US around 10 days before their opening match in Los Angeles. The timely issuance of visas was a significant concern for Iran's team, given that all three of their Group G matches are scheduled to take place in the US, despite the team being based in Tijuana, Mexico.

Iran's national football team has been conducting a pre-World Cup training camp in Antalya, Turkey, since May 19, as they prepare for the prestigious tournament.
