Baghdad: The US called on the Iraqi government Wednesday to finalize an agreement with international oil companies to resume crude exports through the Iraq-Trkiye Pipeline (ITP), which have been halted for nearly a year. According to Anadolu Agency, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce urged the Iraqi government to reach an agreement with international oil companies to restart oil exports via the Iraq-Trkiye pipeline as soon as possible. Bruce emphasized the importance of honoring existing contracts with US companies in her remarks during a daily press briefing. Bruce stated that reopening the ITP will ensure Iraqi oil reaches global markets, with a particular focus on European destinations. This, she noted, would benefit Iraq by contributing to the stability of resilient supply chains, a concern shared by all stakeholders involved. The flow of oil from Iraq to the Ceyhan Port was halted on March 25, 2023, following an arbitration ruling by the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) conce rning oil exports between Trkiye and Iraq.
