US Closing Its Embassy in Israel Amid Rising Tensions

Tel Aviv: The US Embassy in Israel will be closed from Wednesday through Friday "given the security situation," the State Department announced on Tuesday. This closure encompasses the Consular Sections in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, as stated in a post on X. According to Anadolu Agency, the embassy has also instructed all US government employees and their family members to continue sheltering in place at or near their residences "until further notice." The directive reflects the heightened regional tensions that have escalated since Friday. The escalation began when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, targeting military and nuclear facilities. In response, Tehran initiated retaliatory strikes, further exacerbating the already volatile situation in the region.
