Manama: The US Embassy in Bahrain has announced that it "remains closed for the time being" due to a significant escalation in regional conflict. The embassy made this announcement on Monday, emphasizing that it will notify the public once normal operations resume.

According to Anadolu Agency, the embassy communicated its status and safety recommendations through a post on the US social media platform X. The advisory urged individuals indoors to relocate to the lowest level of their buildings and to distance themselves from exterior walls and windows. Those outdoors were advised to seek shelter in robust structures or, if unavailable, to lie down and protect their heads.

The embassy further advised the public to avoid debris following any attack, steer clear of demonstrations or large gatherings, and stay informed by monitoring official news sources for the latest updates.

The closure follows a significant military engagement that began on Saturday when the US and Israel launched a comprehensive attack on Iran. This operation resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets.
