US Hands Over Seized Iranian Ship, Crew to Pakistan for Repatriation

Washington: A vessel intercepted by the United States after attempting to breach a blockade on Iranian ports has been transferred to Pakistan for repatriation to Iran along with its crew, US media reported Sunday, citing US Central Command (CENTCOM).

According to Anadolu Agency, the transfer involved 22 crew members of the M/V Touska, with the operation being completed by US forces. ABC News quoted CENTCOM Spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins as confirming the transfer to Pakistan for repatriation purposes.

Hawkins also noted that six other passengers had already been transferred to a regional country for repatriation last week. Iranian state media reported that these individuals were family members of some of the crew.

Despite these reports, CENTCOM did not respond to requests for confirmation, and neither Pakistani nor Iranian authorities have confirmed the details of the transfer. The vessel Touska was seized by US naval forces on April 19 in the Gulf of Oman after reportedly refusing to comply with blockade directions.
