Washington: Republican US Representative Maria Salazar has made a bold assertion regarding Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, claiming that he is aware of an impending US intervention. In an interview with Fox News, Salazar expressed confidence in the potential shift in Venezuela's leadership, suggesting it would positively impact the American economy due to the nation's substantial oil reserves.

According to Anadolu Agency, Salazar highlighted the economic, security, and political benefits of US engagement in Venezuela. She emphasized the opportunity for American oil companies, citing the prospect of over a trillion dollars in economic activity. Salazar noted that Venezuela's vast oil reserves, surpassing even those of Saudi Arabia, could be a significant boon for the US fossil fuel sector.

Salazar pointed out that the White House's classification of Maduro's government as a foreign terrorist organization positions him as a direct target for the US. She suggested options such as extradition or regime change to dismantle Maduro's leadership. Salazar underscored the strategic importance of Venezuela, describing it as a hub for entities perceived as hostile to the US, including Iranians, Hezbollah, Hamas, and others.

Furthermore, Salazar accused Maduro of leading the 'Suns Cartel (Cartel de los Soles),' a transnational criminal organization, and noted a federal grand jury indictment against him for drug trafficking. The US has officially designated the Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization.

Reports indicate that the US has been ramping up military operations across Latin America, deploying various military assets amid speculation of a potential attack on Venezuela. Despite this, US President Donald Trump recently stated his intention to hold discussions with Maduro soon.
