Ankara: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced late Wednesday the completion of another round of strikes against Iranian military targets, marking the 12th consecutive night of operations. The strikes have been targeting multiple Iranian military assets.

According to Anadolu Agency, the strikes specifically focused on Iran's maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defense assets. CENTCOM stated that these operations aim to further degrade Iran's capacity to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels.

The military reported that American forces have targeted numerous Iranian military sites throughout Iran this month while also resuming a naval blockade against the country. CENTCOM disclosed that US forces have redirected nine commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or departing Iranian ports.

In its statement, CENTCOM mentioned that over 50,000 US service members remain deployed across the Middle East, emphasizing that they are "highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready." The ongoing series of strikes by the US on Iranian targets began last week, while Tehran has responded with attacks on facilities and bases it claims are used by the US military in several countries across the region.

This escalation persists despite a framework agreement brokered by Pakistan and signed by the US and Iran in June, intended to end the conflict that began in February and pave the way for a lasting peace deal.
