Ankara: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Sunday that its forces launched a new round of strikes against Iran. According to Anadolu Agency, the strikes commenced at 5 p.m. ET, aiming to degrade Iran's capability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz. The operation was directed by President Donald Trump to hold Iranian forces accountable. On Saturday, CENTCOM reported targeting approximately 140 Iranian military sites. These targets included missile and drone locations, naval capabilities, ammunition storage, communication networks, and coastal surveillance sites. Throughout three nights of operations this week, CENTCOM stated that over 300 targets had been struck. The military action followed incidents of Iranian fire on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran's decision to close the strategic passage indefinitely. In response, Iran claimed to have launched attacks on US military sites across multiple countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman. The United Arab Emirates also reported intercepting and responding to Iranian missile and drone attacks. On Sunday, CENTCOM refuted Iranian media claims that three American service members were killed in Kuwait due to Iranian strikes, labeling these reports as "false." CENTCOM confirmed that there have been no reports of US service member casualties or injuries in the region, stating, "All personnel are accounted for."
