Washington: New orders for manufactured durable goods in March in the US rose significantly by $26.6 billion, or 9.2%, to a total of $315.7 billion, as reported by the Census Bureau on Thursday. This substantial increase far exceeded market expectations, which had anticipated a rise of only 2.1%.

According to Anadolu Agency, the agency also revealed revised figures showing that orders had increased by 0.9% in February. Excluding defense, new orders saw a notable rise of 10.4% in March. Transportation equipment experienced a significant surge, with an increase of $26.5 billion, or 27%, reaching a total of $124.6 billion.
