Washington: US President Donald Trump has paused military aid to Ukraine after a heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. "The president has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," a White House official stated.
According to Anadolu Agency, the suspension of financing occurred due to the administration's freeze on foreign aid. This pause affects new weapons sales to Ukraine, with the US considering halting arms shipments from its stockpiles.
The tension between Trump and Zelenskyy was evident during their meeting, where Trump, alongside Vice President JD Vance, criticized Zelenskyy for perceived ingratitude towards American military and economic support.
