US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Arrives in Ankara for Talks on Syria and Gaza

ANKARA: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Ankara on Thursday to engage in high-level discussions with Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The meeting is expected to cover crucial topics, including the political transition in Syria and a potential cease-fire agreement in Gaza. According to Anadolu Agency, Blinken was greeted upon his arrival at the airport by several officials, including Ambassador Ahmet Cemil Miroglu, director general of the Turkish Foreign Ministry's Protocol Department, and Michael Goldman, the charge d'affaires of the US Embassy in Ankara. The visit follows Blinken's recent trip to Jordan and is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to address regional conflicts. The focus of Blinken's discussions with Minister Fidan will be the transition process following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria and the subsequent political developments in the country. Additionally, the US Secretary of State aims to explore avenues for a cease-fire agreement in Gaza. These topics wer e previously discussed between Blinken and Fidan in phone calls on December 7 and 10.
