US Senator Warns of Dire Consequences if Military Aid to Ukraine Is Halted

Ankara: Ukraine could face disastrous consequences if the US doesn't resume military aid and intelligence sharing with the embattled nation, warned a senior US senator and member of President Donald Trump's Republican Party. "As long as the fighting is going on, if we pull the plug on Ukraine, it would be worse than Afghanistan," Lindsey Graham told Fox News Sunday. "Until we have a ceasefire, I would give Ukraine what they need in terms of intelligence and weapons to defend themselves," he added. According to Anadolu Agency, Graham emphasized the need for continued support for Ukraine, stating plans to introduce sanctions against Russia's banking and energy sectors. He urged Russia to engage in ceasefire and peace talks with the administration, warning that failure to do so should result in significant sanctions. His comments came shortly after the Trump administration halted military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on Thursday that the US has paused mili tary aid to the former Soviet republic. Although European countries are attempting to compensate for the halt in US military support, analysts suggest that Europe lacks the necessary capabilities to replace the loss in US intelligence.
