Ankara: US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) Adm. Brad Cooper visited Gaza on Saturday, according to reports: Their visit followed the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region to agreed areas.
According to Anadolu Agency, the visit by Witkoff and Cooper was primarily to confirm the completion of Israeli forces' withdrawal. The visit was reported by Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth daily and Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin, highlighting the significance of the visit in the context of regional stability.
In a statement, Adm. Brad Cooper emphasized the purpose of the visit was to outline the establishment of a CENTCOM-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC). The CMCC aims to synchronize activities to support post-conflict stabilization in Gaza. Cooper stated that this initiative would proceed without any U.S. military presence in Gaza, emphasizing the non-involvement of U.S. boots on the ground.
