Brent futures traded for around $95 per barrel as of 2020GMT, down around 2.7%. The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims rose 13,000 last week to 225,000, according to US Labor Department data released on Thursday.
European markets also experienced positive figures, with the pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 index up 0.52% to close at 624.45 points.
