Brussels: A US strike on a water desalination plant in Iran's southeastern coastal village of Bunji, located in Hormozgan province, has resulted in approximately 10,000 people being left without access to water. This incident was reported by a provincial official on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the attack has "completely disrupted the supply of drinking water to 20 villages with a population of about 10,000 people." This information was conveyed by Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim, quoting the CEO of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company. The official further commented that these villages are now facing a significant water shortage crisis.

The situation unfolds amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, where recent days have seen a series of retaliatory exchanges between the US and Iran. This military escalation is occurring despite a prior agreement facilitated by Pakistan. In June, both nations had signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities and establishing a lasting peace agreement.
