Sirik: Three fishermen were killed and 15 others injured in a US strike on a commercial fishing pier in the coastal city of Sirik in Iran's southern Hormozgan province, as reported by the semi-official ISNA news agency. The incident was confirmed by provincial Deputy Governor Ehsan Kamrani.
According to Anadolu Agency, there has been no immediate comment from US authorities regarding the reported attack. This strike marks the second consecutive day of US military action against Iran following Tehran's targeting of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global energy supplies.
Iran has stated that vessels must coordinate with its authorities before navigating the strait and has denied passage through any route other than its designated pathway. On June 17, a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding was reached between Iran and the US, aiming to end their military conflict and establish a lasting peace agreement.
However, US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the agreement was "over," reigniting military tensions between the two nations.
